Moteiv Corporation, a manufacturer of wireless sensor networks, announced the introduction of Tmote Invent, its newest, low-cost wireless sensor system. The system consists of hardware and software components that allow customers to build and install custom wireless sensing applications at a lower cost than previously available.

The hardware component combines the company抯 Tmote Sky sensor module for communication and computation with a rechargeable battery, an integrated suite of sensors, a microphone, and a speaker all packaged into an innovative case. The system抯 software component is Moteiv's distribution of the open-source TinyOS operating system. Moteiv抯 enhancements to TinyOS yield long-lived reliable applications through the integration of cutting-edge open-source technology with robust, manageable wireless technology from Moteiv.
